Wasmtime 47 (released 2026-07-20) enabled both Wasm GC and Wasm exception-handling by default. This post walks through what those proposals change and how Wasmtime implements GC using a Cheney-style semi-space copying collector with a sandboxed heap backed by Wasm linear memory.
