How Windows “device metadata” can auto-install monitor bloatware
Reports in July 2026 claimed certain LG monitors silently install “LG Monitor App Installer” via Windows’ device metadata/Store auto-install path, triggering McAfee promotions without a consent prompt. Windows’ Group Policy can block this automatic device-metadata app delivery (and disabling the Microsoft Store is a harsher fallback).
